First birth connection

How do you put into words the intimate, life-changing connection you form with the midwife who walks through your first labor and birth with you?! Leila was everything I needed in a midwife. She was calm and cool, reassuring, encouraging, and her experience and wisdom made me feel like I was in the best possible hands. She left me alone when I needed to labor with my husband, and she guided and coached me when I needed her help. She supported my family members who were present. She respected my wishes and vision for birth. She anticipated my needs when I couldn’t think for myself anymore.

Postpartum, she has cared for me so personally and deeply. She checks in on my emotions at least as much as my physical recovery. I trust Leila and hope to have another opportunity to birth with her before I move out of state! 🧡
