Insurance
Do you take insurance?
Devotion Midwifery is happy to complete a FREE ($35 value) verification of benefits (VOB). This allows us to learn more about your insurance plan, coverage, deductible, and reimbursement process. We are currently not in contract or in network with any major medical insurance plans, therefore we are considered an out of network provider. Global maternity care with home birth midwives is near $8000 and Devotion give a steep discount for “early pay” or “cash pay” , “direct pay” clients which comes to $5500. This is important when considering using your insurance or not.
Will labs and ultrasounds be covered by insurance?
Your insurance will cover all standard labs and ultrasounds the same as with any other provider since these are not billed directly through Devotion Midwifery but rather billed through the lab and imaging service. If you do not have insurance, we can use a discounted cash pay lab option.
What about Healthshare plans?
Healthshare insurance plans such as Liberty Healthshare, Samaritan and Christian Healthshare usually usually pay 100% of the Global Maternity fee. We are happy to provide a detailed invoice to submit.
If I risk out of midwifery care before term, do I get a reimbursement?
In the instance that you need to transfer to a higher level of care before 37 weeks, your payments will be prorated. Your insurance will then take over payment for new provider visits and birth in the hospital.
What about in labor?
If the midwife comes to attend you at any time, for any amount of time, no reimbursement will occur. Your midwife will have provided you quality prenatal care, committed to your due date, and will have turned away other clients, opportunities, vacations, etc. to be available for your on-call window. Your midwife will also continue to provide support while you are in the hospital, and resume all routine postpartum visits.
