VBA2C Power

During my prenatal care Leila and I talked a lot about my desire to have a physiological birth. She fully supported my desire for a hands off labor and delivery. She shared resources and helped educate me. She walked me through my fears and reassured me that was capable. I was attempting a vaginal delivery after two prior cesareans. During labor I faced a lot of unanticipated fears and Leila met me in my depths and helped me along the way. She adapted to what I needed and asked for in the moment, while still encouraging me in and respecting what my wishes had been in my prenatal care. She fiercely protected my birth space and empowered my husband to support me. With her devoted care I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I went into this birth thinking that what I needed was my power over my body back. But it turns out that what I actually needed, was to know the power of safe people supporting me.
