Hold the mother
It’s hard to put into words just exactly how impactful Leila has been to our family! From the moment she was introduced to us at an early prenatal as a senior student, she seamlessly became a staple in my prenatal care and a vital part of our birth team. When it came to various ailments I had leading up to birth, Leila was ready with educated options to help me over each obstacle (my baby had a healthy pregnancy, my body did not!) Then, when it came time to labor, she truly went above and beyond. When I started laboring, my body’s response to the new sensation of contractions was to get physically ill. So, early on it labor she came to our home, gave me my options and then proceeded to stay & support me and my birth team through the marathon of labor. Leila encouraged me and held me, each part of labor where I needed direction she helped me navigate which way to go. As a first time mom, choosing homebirth, she gave me options without opinion and space when it was necessary. If it wasn’t for her presence during labor, I am not sure if would have successfully delivered my baby at home. She made all of the difference and I am just not sure we will ever be able to put our appreciation into words. We still often joke that for my next baby, we will have to relocate to the state she is practicing in so she can be apart of our birth team, again. Leila, we love you. Thank you.
