Forever Changed

I cannot recommend Devotion Midwifery enough! I switched to Leila at 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby and never looked back. Being so new to home births, I spent over 2 hours asking her every question I could think of before hiring her. In hindsight, I am incredibly grateful for the patience, thoroughness, and professionalism she displayed in answering. Leila and Laura are both extremely knowledgeable and competent.

Every appointment was about an hour long and they do a tremendous job in making medical visits seem like organic conversations. The home visits in the days/weeks after birth were so conducive to my healing. They even brought me extra sitz bath herbs and chocolate milk (an inside joke and my favorite drink)!

During the birth, I was able to time my contractions on an app that Leila had access to. Once they started getting closer and closer together, she called and asked if we "needed a midwife." Yes please! I think she was hanging around our neighborhood because she was knocking on our door within minutes. Two amazing students, Haley and Eli, joined her as labor progressed. Throughout the process, I felt honored, respected, and taken care of. My baby was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck but Leila fixed it, no problem. Despite my baby being born at 3am, the team stayed until about 7am doing baby checks, mamma checks, and cleaning. Our home was left spotless!
